Utilities & Environment

Water and waste removal are included for both properties. Because the houses are right by the... lake, they stay breezy and pleasant in the summer. You likely won't need air conditioning, so electricity usually costs only $20–$30 per month.

In the winter, it does get quite cold. If the heat is running constantly, electricity can reach $200 per month. I usually manage this by spending my days at the office and only returning home at night.

Life at Coventry Lake
I truly think this is the most beautiful place I have ever lived. It is a scenic 12-minute drive to the UConn Storrs campus and offers a tranquil environment—perfect for de-stressing after a busy day of teaching and research at school.
The house features a sun-drenched front porch with a stunning lake view and a large private yard. This outdoor space is perfect for hosting barbecues or gathering around an evening fire. Our landlord even provides a kayak and safety vest for residents to enjoy the water. It’s a very friendly neighborhood. Many of my neighbors are fellow UConn students and staff, making it a wonderful and safe place to call home.

Lease Terms
While these properties are 9-month rentals (running from August 2026 to May 2027), they offer a unique advantage: the landlord allows you to leave your furniture in the house during the summer. This is incredibly convenient if you plan to travel or stay elsewhere, as you won't have to deal with the hassle of moving out or the cost of summer rent.
If you do need to stay in the area for the summer, finding a temporary, fully furnished place nearby is very easy. Since many students and staff leave for the summer break, summer sublets are abundant and often available at discounted rates. This arrangement gives you the flexibility to save money while keeping your belongings secure for the following fall.
